Dog Daycare
A happy dog is a tired dog. The inspiration behind Barks & Recreation came from the need for exercise and socialization in most training cases. At Barks and Recreation, we strive to give your dogs the play and exercise they need. Your dog will be treated to adventure, fun, rest times, and lots of socialization. A lot like home, we have a comfortable oasis for dogs indoors where they can relax and be treated like our family. With access to our indoor spaces as well as our outdoor spaces at all times, dogs are allowed to be dogs under professional supervision, and in social groups to suit their needs. Our secure facility offers dogs of all ages and sizes an enjoyable day where they can return home happy and tired. A well exercised and stimulated dog, is a happy balanced dog!
New Clients
We would like to meet your dog, so please feel free to bring them for a scheduled assessment on their first day of daycare. This gives us the opportunity to properly assess your dog's temperament and place them in the right social group to maximize their play time, or ensure they have adequate rest time and space.
All dogs are required to have their vaccinations or an up to date titre test. We will only accept copies of their rabies, bordatella, and booster shots from a veterinary hospital. We also require all dogs to be on a de-worming and tick and flea treatment to ensure their safety from diseases that the bugs can carry.
Hours of Operation
We are open Monday to Friday from 7am-5:30pm. Dogs may be dropped off or picked up any time between business hours, and do not need to reserve a spot for the day in advance. We ask that you avoid dropping your dog off or picking them up between 12pm-1pm if possible to allow for lunch time feeding. We are closed on Saturdays, Sundays, and all statutory holidays.
Late fees apply for unexpected late pickups. A $15 flat fee is charged at 5:30pm, and doors are locked at 6pm.

We have separate indoor and outdoor play spaces in our dog daycare for all dog sizes, ages and temperaments.
Our daycare is cleaned and sanitized multiple times per day using all natural, chemical free, pet safe, disinfecting solutions. Fresh drinking water is available in various places for your dog
Training at Daycare
For those of us who do not have time to set the foundation of training, we now offer sessions for your pups while they are at daycare.
In this 4 week program, your dog will learn how to effectively use their body language to communicate and connect with their handler, as well as mastering their:
BASIC COMMANDS:

-a release from each command
LOOSE LEASH WALKING:
-no more pulling
-no reactivity
-focus on walker
-connection with walker
MANNERS:
-no jumping
-no nipping

*please note training sessions are meant to be done while your pup is at daycare to challenge them to focus in a stimulating and distracting environment. Owners do not attend these sessions, as other dogs will be present. Owners must participate in one on one and/or group sessions.

Feeding and Medication
We feed your dog the food and treats that you provide at the times that you request. Dogs are fed in separate feeding areas to avoid any food aggression.
Medications are administered based on your instructions and at instructed times.
